We walk with steadiness in Jesus’ light.

We walk with steadiness in Jesus’ light.

Days of brilliant and welcoming sunlight are among the great gifts of spring. Light helps everyone see life around with better vision.  In fact, light shows us what barriers to avoid and the pitfalls to sidestep in order not to stumble.

Jesus, the Light of the World, assists everyone to see things they would not necessarily spot. He enlightens us to see hatred and indifference wherever we find it and showing us ways to point them in the direction of change and hope.  He can even help us see a tiny crack of light in hurtful situations which can steer us to a path of healing. Jesus’ light is indeed more brilliant than any spring sunshine.

Every Easter season supplies us with opportunities to see more clearly and walk more closely in Jesus’ ever comforting light.  He rose from the darkness of death and left the tomb to bask always and forever in the sunshine of everlasting life.

Now that Jesus has risen, He asks us to challenge any darkness or shadows that hold us back from seeing any others as our neighbor.

During this spring, leave darkness behind and bask in the hope and joy that shines from Jesus. He is the truly our Light in this world and our journey’s personal guide. Jesus provides us with courage from the dazzling gift of His amazing grace.

As we move ever deeper into the warmth of spring, we pray that Jesus, our light, steadies our steps, giving us the gentleness to see Him in all who walk beside us.

One cannot do anything with a heart that is vain and full of itself. It is of no use, either to itself or others.                                                                                                            St. Francis de Sales

Please check back this Friday, March 30 (Good Friday) for a special video of Fr. DeLillio's homily on the Last Words of Jesus: "It is finished" and "Into your hands I commend my spirit" delivered at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.

"It is finished. Father, into your hands I commend my spirit."

"It is finished. Father, into your hands I commend my spirit."
