God Thirsts for You.

God Thirsts for You.

Creation is about life and love the way God hoped it would be. God created through love because God is love and wanted to share that love. In fact, God has everything. Creating us added nothing to God’s portfolio or who he is as God. Creation was a generous, benevolent act, given for love and with love. With creation, God wanted to spread his goodness which was swirling in abundance in the Trinity. Creation tells the story of who our loving God truly is, his pursuit of us in time, and his desire to have a relationship with us.

God’s creation, his dream, outlined his plan for the Garden Paradise called Eden. Here God centered all his creation, arranging day, night, land, oceans, sun, moon, trees mountains, fish, buffalo and finally Adam and Eve.

God placed everything in creation. He wanted it to be perfect. After all everyone and everything placed there, was specially made for much-loved people. Through her writings, Saint Teresa of Calcutta showed a strong devotion to the thirsting Christ on the Cross. She had the words, “I Thirst,” written all over the home of the Missionaries of Charity. Saint Teresa of Calcutta of Calcutta made a connection between Jesus’ thirst and our own. She told the sisters:

“‘I thirst’ is something much deeper than Jesus just saying, ‘I love you.’ Until you know deep inside that Jesus thirsts for you—you can’t begin to know who he wants to be for you. Or who he wants you to be for him.

Let us remember the thirst of our Savior for our hearts and hear these words from Jesus to us as expressed by Saint Teresa of Calcutta of Calcutta: “No matter how far you may wander, no matter how often you forget me, no matter how many crosses you may bear in this life; there is one thing I want you to always remember, one thing that will never change. All your life I have been looking for your love—I have never stopped seeking to love you and be loved by you. You have tried many other things in your search for happiness; why not try opening your heart to me, right now, more than you ever have before..

Come to Me with your misery and your sins, with your troubles and needs, and with all your longing to be loved. I stand at the door of your heart and knock. Open to Me, for I THIRST FOR YOU…”

God seeks you more than you seek God. As Jesus says from them cross, “I thirst,” remember that his thirst is for more than water. God thirsts for you.
