More About the Present Moment!
God made us so he could be near us. We frequently wonder how God does this. Where shall we look? How will we know of his presence? All good questions, as God is subtle and rarely bombastic. Remember what the Scriptures say, God is in the whispers. God hints, but to hear, we must be quiet and still. And the place to begin seeking is right where we are in the present moment. Why? Because everyone has present moments. Why wouldn’t God choose them as his manner of entry into our lives?
In life, it is always the present moment that matters. And yet, it is what we do with it that counts Remember, meaning exists in every one of our present moments. Each moment calls God’s children to a new place on life’s path.
No doubt about it! Often the step is small, but sometimes it is a giant leap over a mound that seems insurmountable. At other times, it may only be a ray of light that shows a peep through a murky mess that has long clouded our way. To each, the Lord wants to hear us say: “Hear I am Lord. I come to do your will.” Uttered by so many in the past, this cry has helped many.
Learn from this plea and before we dismiss it as nothing, rest with it, gaze at it until it becomes more defined. Be aware of what begins to surface. If it remains immoveable, let it go and welcome the next present moment, for if there is an inspiration it will make itself known. As we know, God does not make mistakes.
The great attribute of present moments is that they keep coming. They are God’s gift of his nearness, and our great gift of life. Doesn’t God call himself in the present tense: “I am who am!” God knows that the past fades, but the present is always with us. If we miss one, wait a while and the next one is here to tease us into a period of reflection.
Present moments are like an endless mine of great diamonds. At first, they appear rough and cloudy, then with attention and reflection they become smooth and glowing causing great delight and joy
Before buying another self-help book to find our path in life, use God’s way of self-help. As Mark Twain once wrote: “The two most important days in our lives are: The day we are born. And the day we find out why.” Let us allow God, our maker, a chance to “tell” us through our present moments!
