The Burning Bush is the famous bush from which the Lord spoke to Moses.  Evidently at the time, Moses was struggling with a life decision, i.e., “How was he to lead God’s People out of Egypt?”  Suddenly a voice spoke from that bush, startling Moses.  And just to be sure Moses knew who the speaker was--God told him--“I AM who AM.” The Lord then and the Lord to this day is about--NOW.  So God got right into Moses thoughts saying, “I AM the God of Your forefathers and it's time to fulfill my promises to them.”  Moses listened; gained the insight he needed, and prepared God’s people for the great exodus to the Promised Land.

What the Lord did with Moses He still does for us.  He plants Burning Bushes on our paths to help us with our journeys.  God is still “I Am who Am.”  He helps us navigate with insights and inspirations through “burning bushes.”  But we have to be pay attention, recognize God in these “bushes,” and above-all, be open to what we hear--from Him.

Often we find the burning bush, hear the voice as to the way to go, but we are not certain?  Why?  Because almost every moment of our day someone else is trying to snatch our attention. All in all we have too much “clatter” demanding our attention.

How do we know it's God’s voice now as Moses did then?  Well for one thing, our God is in everything that is good for us, and those we love.  This is an absolute.

So we ask does this voice calling from our burning bush sound like the Jesus from Scripture: Love God and Love Your neighbor and strangers as yourself.  Is this the Jesus who calls us to live life “to the fullest?”  Is this the Jesus who saved everyone no matter where they are born?  Is what the voice is asking difficult, but even if we deny ourselves--do we feel good about it?  Does this voice call us to holiness?  And do we know down deep that it is the only, or the best choice?

Moses felt the voice speaking from his Burning Bush instilled fear?  Then Moses remembered, the Lord loves us.  And if  “I AM” desires something, then “I AM” will provide.  Moses made his choice to follow “I AM.” And His God provided all the way.

Is it not the same "I AM"--Our God, who calls us from the Burning Bushes of today, asking us to make difficult choices, which are the teachings of Jesus?  While other voices are asking us to do their bidding, muddled with fear and with no joy.

Like Moses, we have a choice too.  Moses chooses to follow God--“I AM.”  Over the clatter of today, we too, can choose.  Unlike Moses, our God is not only “I AM,” but as we know, He is a Loving Father who wants “no one to perish” and Jesus died and rose for that purpose.
